What is Not covered by our Product Gurantee?
Cosmetic Issues
Not Covered

Cosmetic issues, including additional dents not featured in online images, glue left over from packing tape/stickers, or rust that appears on the unit.

We ask for images of the issue and will determine what caused the additional damage. Many of our unites are shopped across the country to get to their new homes, which can be the reason for additional dents.

We are open to working with you to come to a resolution.

Smells
Not Covered

We will ask for a specific type of smell to confirm if it is a functional issue. Non-functional issue related smells are not covered.

Cracked Glass
Not Covered

Glass breaking due to owner use is not covered.

Your product is covered by our SecondShop Manufacturer’s Warranty. This warranty is included with all purchases. You may also purchase an Extended Warranty for further coverage. We will register your product for you so you are covered for the following:

FAQs About Your Product Coverage Under Warranty

When does my warranty start?Β 

Warranty coverage begins on the date the product is received. Extended warrantiesΒ become effective following the expiry date of the1 year coverage.

β€’ For a 2-year extended warranty, your item is covered for 3 full years from the date the product is received.

β€’ For a 4-year extended warranty, your item is covered for 5 full years from the date the product is received.

How do I register my warranty?Β 

Some products purchased on SecondShopcome with aΒ manufacturer warrantyΒ provided directly by the brand. To activate it, most brands require you toΒ register your product within30 days of purchase. WillΒ SecondShopΒ repair or replace my product?Β 

Our goal is to provide a sustainable shopping experience for Canadians. Where possible, the applicable warranty provider will aim toservice or repair the product first. If aunit isdeemednon-repairable, a replacement of the same model or a comparable unit of similar value (withinΒ±10% of the original purchase price) may be offered.

Can a power surge really occur on an appliance?

Today’s appliances are largely electronic, and therefore susceptible to power surge failure.

How can I get proof of coverage for my first year and/or my extended warranty?

No deductible… really?

There are no deductibles. Products are covered for both parts and labor.

Why is it important that the plan is transferable?

Selling your appliances? Selling your home? The balance of any Plan can be transferred to a new owner by visiting our website and completing the transfer request form.

I have purchased an extended warranty -when does it take effect?

The Plan becomes effective following the expiry date of the SecondShop 1 year coverage.
β€’ For a 2-year extended warranty, your item is covered for 3 full years.
β€’ For a 4-year extended warranty, your item is covered for 5 full years

What is covered under the food loss benefit?

If food is lost following a covered failure, the Plan owner is eligible to receive, for a refrigerator, a maximum amount of 125$ per covered failure, with a maximum for the duration of the Plan of $250. For a standalone freezer, the maximum payable amount per covered failure is $250, with a maximum for the duration of the Plan of $500.

Are you moving?

Your Plan moves with you, service is available in Canada or the continental USA.

How does the knob replacement benefit work?

We will replace broken control knobs that prevent the product from functioning. These items are shipped directly to the Plan owner by SecondShop, through its insurance provider.

What happens when a product needs to be replaced?

If SecondShop, through its insurance provider, decides to replace a product, the Plan owner will receive an online credit equivalent to the original purchase price, to choose another product.
Our Customer Care Team will provide you with the online code, equivalent to the credit and unique to you. They can also support you finding a replacement.

My product came with a 1-year manufacturer warranty, how do I claim it?

Some products do come with a 1-year manufacturing warranty. In this case, you can go directly to their website to register your product withing the first 30 days of owning it.
You will need:
β€’ Your proof of purchase
β€’ Serial number of your product

How can I add an extended warranty to my item after purchase?
